FAQs
- How do I book a Ruby Dot Trails walking tour?
We do require a booking in advance of the tour, as we try to keep the group size to a maximum of 10, for a more personalised tour experience.
We recommend booking at least a week in advance, but no later than 48 hours before the tour start time (Singapore time).
Bookings can be made using the “BOOK NOW” button on each Tour description page. Once we receive your booking details and payment, you’ll receive a Tour confirmation.
If you don’t receive your Tour confirmation email within 24 hours of your booking, please email or call us at +65 97 6000 71.
- Can I change my tour date after I’ve booked it?
If you need to change your tour date, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance of the tour start time (Singapore time) by sending us an email. Do note that re-booking a new date is subject to availability.
- What if I need to cancel my tour date?
If we receive your cancellation notice 24 hours or more before the tour start time (Singapore time), you will receive a full refund. We regret that there will be no refunds for cancellations received less than 24 hours before the tour start time (Singapore time), or for ‘no shows’ on the date itself.
- Where is the tour meeting point?
The meeting point varies by tour, so please refer to the photo of the meeting point and the directions provided in your Tour confirmation email. Do note that the tours may not end at the same place we start from. At the end of the tour, the guide will provide directions. Hotel transfers are currently not available for our tours.
- How will I recognise the guide at the meeting point?
At the meeting point, look out for a guide wearing a red Singapore Tourism Board guide badge.
- What if I can’t find the guide at the meeting point?
If you don’t see the guide (or even a small group gathering), you may be at the wrong meeting point. Do double check your location with the photo of the meeting point and directions provided in your Tour confirmation email.
For quick assistance, you may wish to ask a passer-by to help direct you to the location (as the meeting point is usually a central area with many people around).
Alternatively, you can call the guide at +65 97 6000 71 before the tour start time. Our guide will usually wait an additional 5 minutes after the scheduled start time for guests who have a booking but who are running late.
- What should I wear or bring during the tours?
Singapore’s location at the equator means that we enjoy a warm and humid climate all year around, with a rainy monsoon season from November to January.
We recommend light summer clothing (in cool breathable material) and comfortable shoes. Bring along a cap or sunglasses, and an umbrella or poncho in case of rain. We also recommend a bottle of water to stay hydrated. And of course, your camera!
Note: Tours to places of worship require modest dress i.e. no mini skirts , shorts or sleeveless tops. Please refer to the Tour description page for more details.
- Do the tours still go ahead if it rains?
Yes, the tours run rain or shine. Although we try to stay in sheltered areas when exploring neighbourhoods, there will be times we will be exposed to the elements. For this reason, we recommend weather-resistant footwear and carrying an umbrella or poncho with you.
In the event of very heavy rain or in lightning storms, and if the tour has to be cancelled before it starts or mid-way for safety reasons, you will be offered the option to reschedule or a full refund.
- Is photography / video-recording allowed on the tours?
We respectfully ask that guests do not audio record or video record the guide, in order to respect the intellectual rights of the guide’s material, which is the result of hours and hours of research, study and site orientations. Thank you for your understanding!
Photography is generally allowed. In some places of worship, photography is allowed with a camera fee, or is restricted to certain areas of the temple. Our guide will advise you at the site.
Also, out of consideration to other guests, please turn your cell phone to silent mode during the tour.
- What is the pace like? Is the route suitable for strollers, wheelchairs or those with mobility problems?
In general, the tours are kept at a comfortable walking pace. However, as we will be walking through historical neighbourhoods, there will be steps to climb and uneven ground in places. This may be challenging for those with strollers or in wheelchairs.
- Can I make purchases during the tour?
Out of consideration to the other guests, and to stay on schedule, we request that you wait to make your purchases until after the tour is over.
- Do I tip the guide?
A gratuity is not obligatory, but if you decide to give one, it will be highly appreciated by the guide as a sign that you enjoyed the tour.
